Individuals Allegedly Responsible for State and Federal Crimes, Including Murder, Kidnapping, Firearms and Drug-Trafficking Violations
July 24 Unsealed criminal complaint charges 43 defendants with taking part in federal racketeering (RICO) conspiracy. The complaint alleged commission of both state and federal crimes which murder, conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, drug trafficking, money laundering and various other offenses. The 43 defendants are members and/or associates of the Fernando Sanchez Organization which is a offshoot of the Arellano-Felix drug-trafficking cartel.
This current complaint also alleges Director of International Liaison for Baja, Jesus Quinones Marques in the California Attorney General’s Office was aware of illegal activities and used his position to obtain confidential law enforcement information for the cartel. The complaint states he was involved with making arrangements for arrest of various cartel rivals and having them arrested by Mexican law enforcement officials.
Foreign-based drug-trafficking organization members and associates will not be permitted in San Diego. Here our law enforcement community leverage assets to guarantee this city will not become safe for drug-trafficking organizations. U. S. Attorney Duffy is committed to disrupting such operations.
This most recent complaint charges defendants with Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 1962(d) and, if convicted, they are looking at spending the next two decades in prison.
