On the book: A unique thriller, The Flanders Panel presents a tantalizing puzzle for any art, history, chess, or mystery lover. Before the auction of a fifteenth-century Flemish painting, Julia, a young art restorer, discovers a peculiar inscription reading Who killed the knight?. The painting depicts the Duke of Flanders and his knight locked in a game of chess with a dark lady lurking mysteriously behind. As Julia tries to solve the mystery several of her friends in the art world are brutally murdered and left with messages suggesting their relationships to the painting, and implying that all of the players are in fact pawns themselves…
