BAHRAIN, June 27 (World Daily Times) — Bahrain said Iran launched drones into its territory on Saturday, and the strike drew public condemnation from Gulf governments and the Gulf Cooperation Council, which called the attack a threat to regional peace and stability.

Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry called the attack a “flagrant threat” to the kingdom’s security. The ministry said the Iranian government bore responsibility for undermining peace efforts.

Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi condemned the attack as “treacherous” and said it would undercut efforts to calm tensions in the region.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said the strikes were “a dangerous undermining of endeavors for peace and stability” and a threat to regional security. Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates also issued statements condemning the attack and backing Bahrain’s sovereignty and stability.

Qatar called the attack “a flagrant violation” of sovereignty and “a blatant breach of the rules of international law,” according to its foreign ministry statement.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said on state television that it had targeted several locations “of the U.S. terrorist army in the region,” according to reporting cited by Fox News. The reports provided did not include a detailed official damage assessment from Bahrain.
