WASHINGTON, June 25 (DC Times Online) — Visitors to Washington will be able to enter the Lincoln Memorial’s hidden undercroft for the first time on June 25, 2026, when the National Park Service opens the long-sealed space beneath the monument to the general public.

The park service describes the undercroft as a 15,000-square-foot exhibit area that has been hidden since the memorial opened in 1922. The new space will feature interactive exhibits and multimedia presentations on the memorial’s construction and its role in American history and civil rights.

The project is being funded in partnership with the National Park Foundation, the National Park Service said.

Admission is timed entry. Tickets are free, but advance reservations include a $1 service fee. Visitors can book through Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777.

Same-day tickets will be distributed starting at 8:45 a.m. at the Korean War Veterans Memorial kiosk on Daniel Chester French Drive, just south of the Lincoln Memorial.
