NAPA, Calif., July 5 (Sonoma Times) — Paul Pelosi, 86, is being referred to Napa County prosecutors after sheriff’s deputies investigated a reported hit-and-run in Yountville, where authorities said his vehicle struck a legally parked car and left the scene.
The Napa County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded July 3 about 2:30 p.m. to the 6700 block of Yount Street. In the statement, deputies said Pelosi later admitted hitting something but said he was not aware of what he struck.
Authorities said the parked car was left with major damage. A preliminary alcohol screening test returned 0.00, and deputies said driving under the influence was ruled out.
The sheriff’s office said Pelosi was not arrested, calling that common for misdemeanor offenses under California Penal Code 853.6. The case was referred to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for review, and a California Department of Motor Vehicles re-evaluation referral was said to be forthcoming.
No injuries were reported, according to the sheriff’s office summary cited in the reporting.
The new case comes after the Napa County District Attorney’s Office said in 2022 that it filed misdemeanor DUI-with-injury charges against Pelosi in a separate Napa County crash and said a blood sample showed a .082% blood alcohol content.
